Kalan and Caux Films are specialists in the production of cling film. Both entities produce vinyl and/or polyethylene cling film for food packaging.

They complement each other geographically to ensure a secure supply for customers. These companies are human-scale companies that offer personalized contact and individualized support for each request.

European Regulations on Food Plastic Packaging

The manufacture of plastic films complies with European regulations concerning plastic materials intended for food packaging and U.S. FDA legislation.

Framework Regulation No. 1935/2004/EC: concerning materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs

European Regulation No. 10/2011/EC and its successive amendments: concerning plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs:

  • Compliance with authorized substances
  • Compliance with global and specific migration limits of substances
  • Compliance with global and specific migration test conditions

Kalan and Caux Films produce their plastic films in compliance with best practices for :

  • Hygiene
  • Manufacturing
  • Adherence to current European and international regulations.

The goal: to ensure an effective regulatory monitoring system for clients in compliance with legislation.

Our labels

BRCGS Packaging Materials

The production site in Brittany has been certified BRCGS Packaging Materials since 2009, a global standard for packaging and packaging materials. This certification guarantees the food safety of plastic films manufactured by Kalan.

Recognition Certification

Kalan has also obtained a recognition certificate for industrial plastic granules related to the prevention of plastic pellet loss into the environment.

This certificate is a guarantee of quality and commitment to the prevention of industrial plastic pellet loss into the environment. It certifies that a company's services have been assessed and deemed compliant with the requirements set out in Decree No. 2021-461 of April 16, 2021.

Recyclability Test

The polyethylene film can be easily recycled thanks to a dedicated recycling channel (which may vary depending on the country). Besides, Kalan received a score of 19/20 on the Interseroh recyclability certificate. 

PFAS free cling films

Both PE and Vinyl cling films are completely free of PFAS, in compliance with current regulations. Aware of the environmental and health concerns associated with these substances, we have adapted our products to ensure a safe and regulation-compliant packaging solution.

OK Biobased Certification®

Our Pure Film is certified OK biobased® by The TUV laboratory.

This laboratory is delivering several levels of certification for eco-friendly films:

  • OK Biobased (bio-based carbon analysis)
  • Industrial Compost (film degradability test under specific conditions)
  • Home Compost

The laboratory TUV awarded a star to this film for the OK BIOBASED certification.

The results showed that our film contains 65% renewable raw materials and between 20% and 40% renewable carbon.
